Adventures in Nature: My Travel Stories & Photographs

OK, who am I. First of all, My name is Rich and I currently reside in Northern California. I’m a retired techie, having spent my last working years at Google. I’m the Bob Ueker of tech – I could never quite figure out why Google hired me. But I’m sure glad they did.

My academic background is Geology, and my interests have always been focused on nature and outdoor adventures – hiking, technical climbing, wildlife photography, skiing along with a bunch of sports – tennis, golf, running, cycling. Now that I’m old and decrepit, I stick to less dangerous and strenuous activities, although I’m not quite ready to take up bowling or Viking river cruises yet. Hopefully never.

Since one of the reasons I decided to try my hand at blogging, other than to fill time in my boring life, was to find a better way of sharing my photographs and stories from my recent and future travels. Some people are living vicariously through the strange trips I am taking. I had been using Facebook but…well a lot of people hate it. But I digress. I have created gallery pages of my photographs for each trip which should allow you to download if you so desire – I have not copyrighted anything. I’m not in this for the money.

If you are interested in just photos and not the annoying verbiage associated with them, just click on the button below and you will be on the photo gallery index page (a work in progress)

One other link of interest. I mentioned in one of the posts, a previous blog I launched over nine years ago. I used Google Blogger, so it never had much in the way of traffic other than friends and maybe some family. This was the story of the preparations for, and eventual semi-successful climb up the Yosemite Half-Dome cable route. It sort of fits into this blog, so here’s the link. I had considered doing that climb again this year, but did not get a lottery permit. That’s probably a good thing, and I’m sure you will agree if you read through this blog:

Disclaimer: I am terrible in Web design, and just learning WordPress, so this Blog will continue to change, not always for the better, as I continue to screw around with the design. Bear with me please. I’ll get it right eventually.

Speakng of which, I’m having trouble enabling navigation (I confuse easily), so here are links for the most recent posts, in case your are stuck on this page.
