This was my first real adventure when I decided to give travel a try. I was still pretty much in PTSD mode, and really needed to get away, and the Galapagos Islands was somewhere we both had wanted to visit. This was my first exposure to solo travel, and I learned a lot about myself – how much I can push myself to change old habits and overcome fears. The islands were amazing – the wildlife and geology were like something out of another planet. Another place I want to go back to, since there are a bunch of islands we did not visit.
Only one post from this trip – I was not quite into blogging yet.
In search of Darwin – National Geographic “Expedition” to the Galapagos Islands
The author recounts their memorable trip to the Galápagos Islands, undertaken with National Geographic/Lindblad. Despite initial anxiety about traveling alone, the journey became transformative, allowing for encounters with wildlife and supportive fellow travelers. The trip included snorkeling, hiking, and visits to conservation sites, all while coping with a family tragedy.
